We are delighted to welcome John Landy and Eoin Conneely (Ericsson) and Professor Brian Fitzgerald (Lero – the Irish Software Research Centre) as our keynote speakers.

John Landy

John Landy is a leader in Systems and Technology at Ericsson. In his 20-year career at Ericsson, John has held a number of technical leadership roles, including head product owner for the Community-Developed Software project, which introduced Inner Source software development to the Ericsson. As well as participating in numerous industry and academic events in Ireland, John has spoken at OSCON and gave a keynote address at the 2017 Inner Source Commons Fall Summit. He also contributed to the O’Reilly 2018 publication “Adopting Inner Source”. John holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Systems from the University of Limerick.

Eoin Conneely

Eoin Conneely is the Head of the Application Development Platform Program to enable cloud native application development & Head of Strategy Implementation for PDU OSS. Prior to this role, Eoin amassed over 25 years’ experience with Ericsson (LM Ericsson Limited), and also holds extensive professional experience in software and Agile S/W development. Eoin earned his Bachelor of Engineering Electronic (1989-1993) from National University of Ireland, Galway

Professor Brian Fitzgerald

Professor Brian Fitzgerald is Director of Lero – the Irish Software Research Centre, where he previously held the role of Chief Scientist. Prior to that he served as Vice-President Research at the University of Limerick. He also holds an endowed professorship, the Krehbiel Chair in Innovation in Business & Technology, at the University of Limerick. His research interests lie primarily in software development, encompassing open source and inner source, crowdsourcing software development, agile and lean software development, and global software development. His publications include 16 books, and over 150 peer-reviewed articles in the leading international journals and conferences in both the Information Systems and Software Engineering fields, including MIS Quarterly (MISQ), Information Systems Research (ISR), IEEE Transactions on Software Engineering (TSE) and ACM Transactions on Software Engineering Methodology (TOSEM). Prior to taking up an academic position, he worked in the software industry for about 12 years, in a variety of sectors (including finance, telecommunications, manufacturing, bespoke software development) in a number of countries (Ireland, Belgium, Germany).

What is the InnerSource Commons?

The InnerSource Commons (InnerSourceCommons.org) aka ISC is a consortium of representatives from almost a hundred companies and institutions. It utilizes open source methods to provide organizations pursuing inner sourcing a forum for discussing and improving the practice of InnerSource through the sharing of experiences (under the Chatham House Rule), creation and review of InnerSource patterns, and the open exchange of ideas.

Who should attend?

The InnerSource Common Summits welcomes software professionals at all levels, from executive level manager to software developer. The program targets software development managers and executive managers in particular because adopting InnerSource requires significant efforts to make changes in the organization—whether these are implemented top-down or bottom-up. If you or your organization is adopting, or considering adopting, InnerSource, then attending the InnerSource Summit is the best thing you can do.

What will I get from this event?

Venue

Travel and Transit

Three proximate Airports of choice are as follows:

1. Shannon Airport

The airport serves flights from north America and Continental Europe. The Airport is of particular ease to traffic from the USA with pre-clearance services provided by US Customs. Most of the major European Hubs ranging from Frankfurt, Heathrow and Schipol provide regular flight services across major carriers. Shannon Airport has a bus service (Bus Éireann) from the front door of the Airport Terminal Serving Galway City. The bus journey from the airport varies with Express journeys taking 1 Hour 30 Minutes approx. Car Rental Services are available. Train services are available from Limerick City which can be accessed by bus.

1. Dublin

Dublin is the main national airport and enjoys access from all major worldwide hubs. Bus access is available to Galway from public bus services and private operators such as GoBus and CityLink. Car rental services are available. The Galway train is accessible bus bus to Heuston Station. Regular trains to Galway leave from Heuston Station.

1. Knock

Knock Airport is north of Galway City and can be accessed by bus services. It is a small regional airport. However, it has regular flight access from the UK, Spain and some limited continental airports. Car Rental Services are available. Train services can only be accessed by bus and are not direct.

Hotels

Galway Features a Number of Hotels that are proximate to the University. Attendees are encouraged to book early. Local options Include, Hotels, Guesthouses, Air B&B and Hostels. If attendees are booking late or experience difficulties booking please contact the organisers and alternative room provision can be arranged.
